hong kong
arrived and get around since about 3 days in Hong Kong. I am pretty amazed by its high standard of life right next to the basic standard of life, just around the corner of hugh modern skyscarpers. The gap between rich and poor is not really visible on the first seight but obviously there. They build the most modern buildings with bamboo canes and only one street beyond the most expensive jewellery shop you find Hong Kongs people eating on plastic chairs their rice and noodles with all different kind of ingredients and additives you can imagine paared with the smell of effluent and gorgeous kitchen smells. I love it. Its loud hectical and very touristy in many streets like Nathan RD in Kowloon where I am staying right now. But nevertheless its even as easier to find locals in front of their steel and tool shops, spices and medicine shops or restaurants and constructionsides as it would be in melbourne for instance. I looked forward to my trip through asia since half a year. And now, I am here, looking around and breath in the culture, the people and the emissions of course I can tell you that I get what I want. Real people in real life. So far after three days in Hong Kong and 82 pages of the book “Instructions for China” from Kai Strittmatter my life is beautiful as it was the last half year. Maybe a little more. My only doubt for the next half a year: Am I able to see all of the things and countries I want to see?! Maybe I never come back. (of course I will). But its going to be hard.
For my photography I’d like to tell you that I am getting deeper again and try to avoid language barriers for shooting people. Its hard, but its worth it and I love it.
For myself I love to learn all the languages of the countries I travel through which is nearly impossible. Even my inqusitiveness allowes me a lot to do, I can’t have it all. And after these wise senteces I like to wish all of you a happy lovley new Year and a beautfil life.
Florian, the man who understands more and more of the world and falls deeper and deeper in love with he never felt in love with anything else.
i am a photographer now
I sold my first picture and I am really proud of it. I took it actually in a time where I didn’t even know what I want to do in my life and still floating in the river of opportunities. Thats my best christmas present ever. Thanks to the buyer. I spend my christmas eve probably in the hostel and head to Sydney on the 25th before I leave Australia for Hong Kong. I am glad to tell you guys that I saw something from the country as well what I kind of doubted somehow. I went to the great ocean road with the dutch mate Tom and the finnish girl Oh-tti (or similar). I had the feeling I saw everything what there is to see for my understanding of Australia. I saw lots and lots of skippies, koalas and went even surfing again in Torquay at the Surf coast. Very beautiful. Now I can leave Australia without a bad taste in my mouth not seeing anything.

down under as a lifestyle
Since a couple of weeks I spend my beautiful life in Melbourne. I came to a point where I am doing nothing and being totally relaxed and not even bored of doing nothing. I don’t go to the happening anymore. The happening comes to me by itself. How awesome is that. I start a job as a buzzy (picking up classes in a club) and I think I never been that hard and fast working as at this evening and really enjoyed it. So I am a little less afraid of coming back to germany and facing the journey. I have to admit that this is my first job since 6 month and I can’t believe that time goes by so fast. What ever I do, if I am working or doing nothing. I am totally relaxed and enjoy life as I never did before probably. So, catch 22.
I had a break from photography for about 8 weeks and getting into it again since a couple of days. I think I definitly needed the break and the time for myself without the camera. Christmas is coming soon and how you could guess, I am probably not writing punctually at exactly christmas’ eve or boxing day. So I wish you all a beautiful relaxing and joyfull time and I kiss you, as I always do. Florian
